I Want to Watch You Die

I want to watch you die,
to cease,
Be there the second,
Your soul is fleeced.
Be there the moment,
Your life is gone,
Having been there besides you,
all along.

I swear to be,
an incessant partner.
We could forget the years,
Watch wrinkles sharpen.
We could forget the last names,
Of our neighbours.
We could go to funerals,
Not read the papers.

‘He’ll be the death of you’,
The grandkids might joke,
Or you might crash, or burn,
Break, melt or choke.
I want to watch you die,
live in the flesh,
But not before I’ve had my fill,
Of you, at your best.
